Mission Statement

It is the Mission of Brunswick School of Dance to provide quality, caring, enjoyable & achievable dance tuition to children in the local community. Ours is a holistic venture, nurturing the child in the art of dance by fostering confidence and imparting the values of kindness, compassion, fairness, group skills & positive work ethic.

BSOD’s point of difference in the private dance school community is its strong adherence to the above philosophy & values. Striving always to put the child first is what makes our school attractive to modern families.

BSOD celebrates dance arts. Students are exposed to quality music, ideas, costumes and choreography which draw on historical examples as well as experimenting with new innovations. A solid grounding in dance technique, within the student's physical capabilities, underpins the art.

BSOD exists primarily for the student’s benefit. We strive to create a community where all dancers - recreational, serious recreational & pre-vocational - feel valued.

Our teaching team together offer a vast array of individual skills and interests. Students benefit enormously from this collective knowledge base and are encouraged to maximise exposure to as many teachers and genres as possible.

We support a school-wide policy of regularly & fairly alternating opportunities (special parts, solos, groups etc.) to maximise each student’s strengths & gifts. When selecting individual students for special opportunities we consider the following - involvement in the school, work ethic, talent, enthusiasm, kindness, positive attitude and school spirit.

On departing our school we hope that students will reflect on their time at BSOD very positively.

Physical skills, personal memories, experiences and friendships at BSOD will form part of their life story which in turns contributes to their adult identity.

Future Vision

BSOD will continue its work as outlined in the Mission Statement.

We will endeavor to improve facilities & processes so our goals are even more achievable.

There will be a range of possible participation levels for all students including recreational, serious recreational & vocational.

In 2017 we will offer Intensive training programs in the school-holidays & regular Master-Classes throughout term with visiting teachers & industry professionals.
